Cigarette tobacco is treated with chemicals. Pipe tobacco is all natural tobacco treated with food based flavorings. Pipe smokers don't inhale the smoke. Cigarette smokers inhale to get their nicotine fix. I smoke a pipe, and I am in good health. I play hockey, and work with horses. My doctor has never told me not to smoke a pipe.
